CIFFR Education Program 2018

Every year, thousands of students fill the theater for the special education program for elementary and high school students. Lesson plans (available in Dutch) are available for participating schools with background information and assignments.

Groups 6 – 8 (Funderend Onderwijs)
This year’s film is the exciting Norwegian film Operatie Noordpool (Operasjon Arktis) by Grethe Bøe-Waal. Accidentally, three sibling children are left alone in a winter storm on the island of Spitsbergen. No-one on the main land, an ocean apart, knows where they are. It’s a dramatic fight for survival.

Secondary Education (Voortgezet Onderwijs)
Wizard by Kagiso Lediga is a hilarious, contemporary, and flashy fairy tale. The film follows two teenage friends who grew up in the township Atteridgeville in South Africa, where they tried to earn money growing and selling marijuana in order to escape poverty. A coming-of-age story that, in between the jokes and bizarre events, shows harsh life in the townships. (Tswana/English subtitles).

Films previously screened in the education program include Landfill Harmonic (2017), De Boskampi’s(2016),  The Idol (2016), Girlhood (2015), Pelo malo (2014), and Nairobi Half Life (2013).
