The Black & White digital photography competition, organized for the second edition of the Curaçao International Film Festival Rotterdam (April 4 – 7, 2013) was closed last Thursday January 31 at midnight. From that moment onwards it was no longer possible to upload photos.
Photos kept pouring in until the very last moment. An interim score before closing showed that nearly 100 individual participants had submitted over 700 photos on the Curaçao IFFR website. This is an overwhelming amount! The organization wished to thank everyone for the enthusiastic contribution and wishes them good luck! The jury now faces the challenging task to choose the top three photos from this enormous amount. The winners will be officially announced during the opening of the ‘Magic Lantern’ exhibit in the Renaissance Hotel on April 3.
The short movie competition ‘Short Movies, BIG Stories’ for Curaçao youth between the ages of 13 and 21 is still open until February 28.
In addition to these two local competitions, during the film festival weekend itself, it will be up to new up-and-coming film talent from the entire Caribbean region and neighboring Latin-American countries to compete for the Yellow Robin Award 2013. For this purpose Curaçao IFFR has entered into a collaboration with Instituto Cubano del Arte e Industria Cinematográficos, het Trinidad & Tobago Film Festival and Jamaica Promotions Corporation and talks with two other parties are currently still ongoing.
