Curaçao IFFR Education Program 2015

For its 4th edition, Curaçao IFFR has again set up a special education program for the senior classes from primary and secondary education to get to know the festival and the kind of films screened.

Groups 6, 7, and 8
The Cinemas • Thursday 26 March • 08:30 hrs
The festival welcomes students from groups 6 through 8 for a unique festival experience: a special program of 8 international short films. The films will be introduced by one of our speakers, either in Dutch or Papiamentu. Afterwards students are engaged in a so-called Q&A: Question & Answer session about the films.

Digital lesson material is available for participating schools with information and short assignments, that can be used in class to prepare students in advance and also discuss the films afterwards.

Secondary Education
The Cinemas • Thursday 26 and Friday 27 March • 08:30 and 11:15 hrs
The French film Girlhood (2014) from young director Céline Sciamma is screened for the senior secondary education classes. Girlhood is an energetic coming-of-age drama showing how a 16-year-old girl flees her old life and changes completely under peer pressure. The banlieues of Paris form the backdrop to this raw portrait of a new life for resilient Marieme.

Digital lesson material is available for participating schools. This film and the themes will also be introduced by one of our speakers, followed by a Question & Answer session after viewing.

Registration
Participation in the education program is free. Seats are limited though and full is full so register promptly!

All schools have been invited by email to register for the screenings no later than 1 March. If your schools has not received our invitation, please contact Percy Pinedo at Percy@CuracaoIFFR.com for further information and registration. If you need help in arranging bus transportation for your students to The Cinemas, please let us know, we’ll be happy to help!
