SAMBA

SambaFor the month December, the festival organization presents the French romantic comedy / drama Samba.

After the giant success of Les Intouchables, directors Olivier Nakache and Eric Toledano again teamed up with the French-Senegalese actor Omar Sy. For his role of Driss in Les Intouchables, Sy received the Cesar for Best Actor in 2012.

SAMBA

Since immigrating to France from Senegal 10 years earlier, Samba (Omar Sy) has held a number of menial jobs, doing whatever he can to survive. Because of a bureaucratic slip-up he lands in detention and is at danger of being deported.
Then he meets Alice (Charlotte Gainsbourg), a former manager who is struggling with burnout and works as a volunteer at the immigration office. Like Samba, she tries to get her life back on track. The two find support from each other and quickly sparks fly. Full of humor and emotion their lives take a turn towards happiness…

Samba is a touching, universal story about immigration and integration with another strong performance by audience favorite Sy.

Samba is screened daily at The Cinemas starting 4 December at 17:00, 19:30 and 22:00.

The film is French spoken and subtitled in Dutch.
