In this unconventional, slightly absurdist revenge Western set in the Far East, widow Marlina goes in search of justice. Her journey through the inhospitable countryside of the Indonesian island Sumba brings her unexpected allies and reveals unsuspected, powerful aspects of her character.

Médecin de campagne (Irreplaceable) (2018 Feature Film)

SCENES OF SENSES_In rural France family physicians are demigods. But the one in this tragicomedy proves mortal, much to his own surprise. Jean-Pierre would prefer to keep the fact that he has cancer under wraps, because he thinks he’s indispensable. The arrival of a brisk female doctor proves him wrong.

Moko Jumbie (2018 Feature Film) Nominee

Romantic drama about roots and tolerance by Trinidadian-American filmmaker Vashti Anderson. Whilst visiting her aunt in Trinidad, the young Englishwoman Asha meets her aunt’s mysterious neighbour Roger. This starts a romantic, magical search for identity and love. Intense debut film delicately navigates taboos, superstition, and spirituality.

Nervous Translation (2018 Feature Film)

SCENES OF SENSES_Sensitive, sparkling film that captures the confusing and magical moments alike in the life of a child who, while preferring to be by herself, deep down also longs to be heard. The events of 1987 in the Philippines play a role in the background, but shy Yael is more concerned with her absent father, her uncle who is a rock star and a pen with special powers.

Oso polar (Polar Bear) (2018 Feature Film)

When Heriberto picks up his former classmates Trujilo and Flor en route to a school reunion, memories of the first few years at school gradually emerge. On the surface a brief road movie to a suburb of Mexico City, Polar Bear soon proves to be a painful journey into the past.

The Party (2018 Feature Film)

Janet hosts an intimate gathering of friends to celebrate her new promotion, but once the guests arrive it becomes clear that not everything is going to go down as smoothly as the champagne. A black comedy, full of sharp dialogues.
